This is a storm water detention area called "Prairie Walk Pond" - there is no prairie, and the construction of this "pond" was so shoddy that it leaked for many months, requiring expensive remediation. This detention area is within steps of one of the busiest highways in DuPage County (Rt. 53), and there is no barrier between it and the huge trucks barreling down the highway at more than 50 miles per hour. That wasn't bad enough - Lisle public officials actually constructed a playground next to the pond! Thankfully, the playground is rarely used - there is nothing to stop 40 foot tractor trailers and/or dump trucks from careening into the playground from Rt 53. The only positive thing that can be said about this waste of money is that most of the money came from a state grant, so Lisle taxpayers did not have to absorb the entire burden.
