Apathy Or Intentional Exclusion?

Ever wonder why Lisle Village Board and zoning meetings are so sparsely attended? Think it's because Lisle taxpayers are stupid, or that they just don't care? It could be that they've been conditioned to be cynical by appointed officials like the zoning commissioner who, when taxpayers say things he doesn't agree with, changes the rules to prevent them from speaking.

Here's a view from Canada, where they don't have extremes like zoning bosses changing rules to exclude citizens but they seem to have similar issues:

  1. Intention Exclusion is exactly what Lisle is doing with the new planning and zoning rules. Do the intend to enforce them? My guess is that they hope the rules alone keep people away. THe message is loud and clear. Lisle wants to minimize oppoistion and the number of people fully participating in public hearings.
Let's hoe Lisle does not intend to re-appoint the current chair of the PZC. Two terms was enough. We need a PZC chair that send a good message to the community not one that threatens to kick people out or adopt rules to keep people away.

  2. I wonder why Lisle did not ask lisle residents who were interested in being on a board to submit their resumes for upcoming appointments??
